Reduced membership fee for members financially impacted by COVID-19

The COVID-19 Financial Impact Fund is for eligible members who have been impacted financially due to COVID-19. Those on the register will receive a 50% discount on their membership fees for membership year 2020/21.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You're an Academic Associate, Academic Member, Academic Fellow, Affiliate, Student, Associate or Chartered member of the Institute (Chartered MCIPD, Chartered FCIPD or Chartered CCIPD) renewing your membership in 20/21.
  • You have been negatively impacted financially by the COVID-19 pandemic - experiencing, as a guide, a loss of 20% or more of your income for reasons including: having to work reduced hours for childcare or other caring responsibilities; being self-employed and losing clients or projects; having been asked to take a pay cut by your organisation; being furloughed and only receiving 80% of your usual salary; and any other comparable impacts.

Reduced membership rate for career breaks and maternity leave

The career bridge register is for eligible members who are on a career break or maternity leave. The reduced membership fee is £72.

Eligibility criteria:

  • you're an Academic Associate, Academic Member, Academic Fellow, Student, Associate or Chartered member of the Institute (Chartered MCIPD, Chartered FCIPD or Chartered CCIPD).
  • you’ve not been working for at least one year, full or part-time. you’re not receiving any remuneration or paid salary (apart from maternity pay). you have held membership of CIPD for at least one full year.

This benefit is not available to Affiliate members.

Reduced membership rate for job seekers

If you're currently looking for work and finding it difficult to pay your annual subscription fee, you can apply to join our interim register.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You're a Student, Associate or Chartered member
  • You've been in membership for more than one full year
  • You're not in work, full-time or part-time

This benefit is not available to Affiliate members.

You can stay on the interim register for a maximum of two years. If you'd like to join the register or you're already on the interim register and would like to extend, please call us on +44 (0) 20 8612 6208

Reduced membership rate for members aged 60 or over

If you are aged 60 or over you can apply to be placed on our retired register and receive full member services for a reduced subscription fee. This would be £72 for the first 5 years, and £36 thereafter.* 

Eligibility criteria:

  • You've been an Associate or Chartered Member, Chartered Fellow or Companion (Chartered MCIPD, Chartered FCIPD or Chartered CCIPD) for the last five years
  • You're not in paid employment
  • You're aged 60 or over
  • You are of any age and have certified permanent incapacity to work because of ill health.

This benefit is not available to Affiliate members.
