This is part of Generation Apprenticeship which aims to more than double the number of learners taking the apprenticeship route.

Ireland’s labour market needs a strong apprenticeship culture and framework, and despite government reviews and a new framework, the preponderance of apprenticeships remain in traditional craft areas. Apprenticeships currently available include those in construction, electrical, engineering, finance and motor. The extended time taken for apprenticeships in development, currently 19, shows that further revisions and supports are needed to enable the expansion of apprenticeships and better engagement with employers.
