After 80 years operating in Ireland, the CIPD formed a new legal subsidiary in Ireland. This came into effect on 1 July 2021, with a new limited company for Ireland called CIPD Ireland CLG. This legal structure is a wholly owned subsidiary of the CIPD.

The CIPD Ireland team transferred over to the new company, and their excellent delivery of CIPD services will continue to members, the people profession. It puts the structure of the CIPD in Ireland level with the CIPD’s other international offices in Dubai and Singapore. CIPD Ireland will continue its charitable status as we have reapplied to the Charities Regulator to maintain this.

This is a significant development for the CIPD in Ireland, generating its own Board of Directors and governance structure and improved reporting of CIPD Ireland activity. It also gives the CIPD the ability to operate as a full member of the EU.

There are a number of significant ways in which we are not changing and will continue to provide our ongoing excellent service delivery to the profession:

  • The commitment to support the profession to increase its impact and champion better work and working lives.

  • Our communications, cipd.ie website, policy work and activities will continue to keep members up to date and well informed.

  • The ways in which the National and Regional Committees operate.

  • Membership and qualification standards continue to be fully serviced by CIPD experts in the UK.
