About us

Welcome to the CIPD

The CIPD is the professional body for HR and people development. In becoming a CIPD member, you join over 5,000 CIPD members in Ireland and an international community of more than 140,000 Human Resource and Learning & Development professionals.

At the CIPD – the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development – our purpose is to champion better work and working lives. We believe that work should be a force for good. Not just for shareholders or employers, or even just for employees, but for the societies and communities we are part of.

The vision of CIPD is to define and represent the international benchmark for excellence in people and organisation management and development. The CIPD supports education, accreditation and development in HR and L&D and is a source of strength behind HR and L&D professionals. As the future of work unfolds, it is the professional knowledge and insight of CIPD members that will create situations where people have the best opportunities to develop their skills and careers; and organisations positively design and manage work to benefit individuals, business, and ultimately economies and society as a whole.

In Ireland the CIPD is focussed on the strategic development of the Institute, its growth, engagement with members, building strategic relationships with key government departments, other relevant bodies and HR leaders. Along with working on national policy agenda, the UK decision to leave the EU has emerged as a significant theme for the HR profession in Ireland.

Our engagement with members is strengthened by a range of thought leadership conferences and workshops as well as HR research and awards recognition programme. Our strong membership is increasing, enhanced by a growing cadre of students following CIPD qualifications. Six nationwide regional volunteer committees deliver a range of interesting activities at local level.

We're engaging with a number of government departments and agencies and raising the voice of CIPD on major national policy issues.
